Travelling to the city

Staying in the city

For business travellers, the Number 10 hotel on the Southside is fantastic value, with all the mod-cons you'd expect from a much more expensive hotel, including 24-hour Internet access and pressing facilities. Alternatively, the extravagant Blythswood Square Hotel offers five-star luxury accommodation as well as an award-winning spa, gourmet restaurant and the historic Rally Bar. For a real treat, book the top-floor Penthouse Suite with its private bar, dining room and personal hot-tub. Costing a mere £1500 per night, you'd best get saving.

In and around the city

While you're in Glasgow, visit the People's Palace in Glasgow Green, a wonderful museum and glasshouse dating back to 1898. Hosting exhibitions and collections to commemorate the city and its heritage, it's a must-see attraction that won't disappoint.

Kelvingrove Park is an oasis of green in an otherwise grey city; an urban sanctuary for birds and other wildlife it's a central and important part of Glasgow's landscape. Popular with students, dog-walkers and city workers, it's also home to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

A taste of Glasgow

For delicious food in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere try ‘The Left Bank' on Gibson Street, serving wholesome, home-cooked food using seasonal and local produce. Go for brunch and sample the wonderful Eggs Mornay with Smoked Salmon - it's a dish you'd be happy to leave home for. In the evening head to ‘King Tut's Wah Wah Club' on St. Vincent Street. Known for being ‘the' live music venue in Glasgow, the calibre of live music here is second-to-none. It's also where the Gallagher brothers were spotted and signed in 1993 with their band Oasis. The rest, as they say, is history.

Glasgow has evolved into a wonderfully cosmopolitan city that's definitely worth a visit. Put it at the top of your to do list and book now with bmi - you'll be so glad you did.
